Fincamigos Sudan Rume, Tabi, Geisha FW - Colombia - 2021
Fincamigos is an experimental farm operated by our local partner in the region, Cafexport. The farm functions as a trial garden, where they develop new methods for growing exotic coffee varieties. They are also exploring the possibilities of growing coffee in more socially and environmentally sustainable ways. Varieties produced by the farm consist of the most sought after coffee varieties including Sudan Rume, Geisha and Tabi. At Fincamigos, these high-quality lots are grown in their natural environment, where they receive VIP treatment, to offer their full flavor potential. At the end of all these efforts, the notes of strawberry, chocolate and honey dance in harmony in the cups.
Fincamigos and Cafexport are looking for ways to preserve and revitalize coffee farm ecosystems while growing high-quality specialty coffee, creating a lasting positive social impact. The lots produced by the farm consist of the most sought after coffee varieties including Sudan Rume, Geisha and Tabi. All of these varieties are known for their high scores and complex flavor profiles. Sudan Rume is an ancient native species first cultivated on the Boma plateau of South Sudan and is the genetic parent of many well-known cultivars, including SL28. Subject to; Typica is a newer variety derived from Bourbon and Timor. It has relatively larger fruits and seeds and can be grown at high altitudes with up to 3,000 dense trees per hectare. Geisha, on the other hand, is a very special product known for its highly rated cup and incredible fruity notes.
Cafexport grows a range of high quality varieties in Fincamigos. They also produced the first lots of Geisha, Tabi and Sudan Rume in 2020 and the first lots of Laurina in 2021. Fincamigos planted more than 650 native trees on 4 hectares of forests to protect the forests. These native species help revitalize the ecosystem and create a habitat for the migratory birds that pass through the area each year.
